You like your music from loud, to very loud, and to extremely loud, so loud that the walls tremble, the windows vibrate, and the cat runs out of the room. You put in a massive home sound system, to listen to the performances of your favorite bands. Surround sound is imperative. Unfortunately, neighbors surround you that either do not like the same music that you like, or have a problem with you hearing it at 4 a.m. on a Tuesday. If you have been partying since Friday, it really is none of their business. You might convince your neighbors to take a chill pill, but it is not so easy to convince the police if they show up at your door. Here is how to go from disturbing the peace to getting everyone else to leave you in peace.
The solution is high-quality headphones. In that way, you can listen to music cranked way up, all night long, and have the full audio experience, plus the added convenience of not having to worry ever again about the neighbors. Of all the headphones out there, the ones you will probably like are the V-MODA Crossfade LP Over-Ear. (I got so excitied when i received it! )
First, is the sound image is perfect 3D. You can hear the instruments with perfect placement in the sound image. The bass is full, the mids are punchy, and the highs crystal clear. They can handle a full dynamic range. This is important if you like everything from Zeppelin to Chopin. They are great for watching movies because they provide that full surround sound that one expects. Compared to inferior wireless headsets for TV, these headsets produce a vastly superior sound. If you want to use them for TV, just get a long enough extension cord so you can sit a comfortable distance away. You can use these headphones full-out at maximum volume or with the volume turned way down. Either way the sound is just as good. That is amazing because you know that some headphones are good when used at high volumes and others are good for lower volumes. However, these are able to do both well, which is very unusual.
Second, is they are noise-isolating. That means they are the perfect headphones to use when the environment around you is loud enough to affect your listening pleasure and your sanity. I wore these headphones on a long flight in the back of a military transport plane. I am an army brat so I get to fly free as long as I can withstand the torture of flying in the equivalent way as military cargo. Without these headphones, the noise on these flights is unbearable. However, with them on, I was able to listen to my favorite heavy metal band to pass the time as well as soft classical jazz to help me fall asleep.
Third, they are super comfortable to wear. They cover the entire ear without putting pressure on places that could give you a headache. Wearing glasses while using them does not cause any discomfort. DJs like them because they can wear them for many hours at a time. You probably will not even notice you have them on as the music will have your attention, not the headphones, which is what you want.
Fourth, is how well-built they are. Ever had your headphones on, walked out of range, and pulled the wires off them? Not just pulled those out of the jack, but also pulled the wires out of the headphones breaking the wires. With these, it is almost impossible to do that. The designers used a very clever forty-five degree angle so that pulling the wires out of the jack is less likely. The wires, connected to the headphones, have Kevlar reinforcement, the stuff they use for bulletproof vests. That stuff is tough. Try and you might, you cannot rip the wires out of these headphones. They come with two different wires, a long one that is a direct connection, and a shorter one that has the additional feature of a volume control and a mic built into the wire, which is great for using with portable devices of when you want to speak using the mic pickup.
Do yourself a favor and check out these headphones. Tell your neighbors, your roommate that plays his music loud at night, the one they hate, the one the police hate, has moved.
Thanks for William’s great review!
